Encounter wild Borneo at its best. Tabin is an enormous dipterocarp rainforest landscape in the eastern part of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo with a most diverse range of flora and fauna.
Tabin was declared a wildlife reserve because of the large numbers of animal species inhabiting its forest, including several which are highly endangered. With a protected forest area of 120,500 hectres, Tabin plays an important role as a dedicated ground for the breeding of endangered wildlife and protected mammals in Sabah.
It is no wonderthat Tabin has been heralded as the finest wildlife viewing area in Borneo. The three largest mammals of Sabah, namely Asian Elephant, Sumatera Rhinoceros and Tembadau are all found within Tabin,

3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS - FULL BOARD
Tabin has several mud volcanos and salt water springs that are high in minerals which are of importance to wildlife, and are frequently visited by animals and birds. An ideal place to spot wildlife or find evidence of their visits. The accommodation is in the form of authentic Borneon timber chalets, clean and recently constructed. 20 air-conditioned chalets all offer en-suite shower and WC, are internally finished in polished wood, with private balcony offering views of the river or the rainforest. A place to look forward to after your day's jungle adventure. Packages are inclusive of all meals, which are taken in the central open walled and airy Lipad Cafe. Surrounded by nature, the Cafe is a great place to look out for birds, butterflies and small animals while you sip your coffee.
EXAMPLE ITINERARY: DAY ONE: Pick up from Lahad Datu airport at 9am and transfer one hour drive to the reserve. Afternoon, visit Lipad Mud Volcano after a short trek through the jungle, and look for footprints of deer, wild boars, elephants and birds. Experience the effect of volcanic mud, said to be responsible for fine facial complexion. After dinner and a slide presentation, enjoy night activities by foot or by car to look for nocturnal wildlife and birds.
DAY TWO: A scenic journey to explore the route that leads to Tabins core area. Along the way, look out for wildlife and birds. A further jungle trek will take you to Lipads stunning waterfall and natural pool area for a swim or to relax. After dinner, further night activities for nocturnal wildlife.
DAY THREE: After breakfast, stroll to the nearby rock pool or riverside area, take a dip, or simply enjoy the nature. After lunch at 2:30pm depart Tabin Wildlife Reserve for Lahad Datu airport.
